We the undersigned believe a golf course is an unacceptable and dangerous use of the Palos Verdes Landfill which is filled with 47 billion pounds of industrial and municipal waste. Included in this buried waste are hazardous materials that will increase toxic water seepage and gas emissions containing mercury, lead, benzene, vinyl chloride, etc. It will add traffic congestion requiring new stop lights on Crenshaw and Hawthorne Blvds. The Landfill should be used as a general purpose recreational facility that does not require disrupting the soil cover or excessive irrigation. We are demanding full disclosure and comprehensive air, soil and ground water testing now as a base and frequent testing thereafter.
